SYNTAX:
 
xpxStartTransaction () status : INTEGER;
 
The xpxStartTransaction function start (open) a new transaction. All updates to an EDMdatabase^ in an open transaction will not be made persistent before all open transaction is committed and closed by either the xpxCommitTransaction or the xpxCommitAllTransactions operations.
All updates to an EDMdatabase^ in an open transaction will be undone when the open transaction is aborted and closed by either the xpxAbortTransaction or xpxAbortAllTransactions operations.
Transactions can be nested.
This function is equivalent to the EDMinterface^ function edmiStartTransaction.
