Obtaining an EDMruntime License Key

To distribute EDMsix libraries with your application, you will need to embed an 84 characters long string into the source code of your application before compiling it. The embeddable key removes the hardware binding of the EDMsix libraries. To obtain the embeddable key, you will first have to sign an Embedded Software License Agreement, with Jotne EPM Technology AS. Once the agreement is effective, you will receive a five digit license id and a password to be used to generate the embeddable key.

Contact Jotne EPM Technology AS to sign the Embedded Software License Agreement

To obtain the ESLA and the EDMruntime license id, you need to be the owner of an EDMsdk  license. See EDMsixInside to determine if your application is within the scope of EDMsixInside. Once the agreement with Jotne EPM Technology A/S is in place, you will receive the EDMruntime license id and an installation password. Now you have all it takes to generate the embeddable license key.

Generate the embeddable key

The embeddable EDMruntime License key is installed as any other EDMsix license key. Start the license installer, installLicenseKey.exe as administrator and enter the license Id and the password that you received from Jotne EPM Technology AS.

Retrieve the license key from your system environment

To read the EDMruntime license key from the system environment, start a command window and type the command 'set edm'

mvObtaining an EDMruntime license key

This section describes how EDMsdk  owners may obtain EDMruntime license keys for embedding in their applications. In order to perform this procedure, your computer must be connected to the internet and you will need an EDMruntime license id and a corresponding installation password.

To obtain an EDMruntime, you need to be the owner of an EDMsdk  license. An agreement must be made between you and Jotne EPM Technology A/S.

Once the agreement with Jotne EPM Technology A/S is in place, you will receive the EDMruntime license id and an installation password

 

  • Start the EXPRESS Data Manager license key installer

installLicenseKey.exe is located in the binary folder of the Express Data Manager directory.

You must run the license installer as administrator


  • Fill in the license form and press Start Installation

Use the EDMruntime license id and password you have received from Jotne EPM Technology AS. Use the Description field to identify the computer on which you installed the key.


  •  Pick up the license key in your system environment

To read the EDMruntime license key from the system environment, start a command window and type the command

Make sure your application installer does NOT install the EDMruntime license key in your end users system environment! The EDMruntime  license key shall be embedded in compiled source code only, and shall not be accessible to your application end users
