Jotne also offers the EDMconversionServerâ„¢ an alternative to the EDMsixInsideâ„¢ ESL license for ISV customers that needs to provide SaaS to their end users. Below are some frequently asked questions about EDMconversionServerâ„¢ and SaaS licensing.

What is EDMconversionServerâ„¢?

EDMconversionServerâ„¢ is a purposed EDMsixServerâ„¢ license for the optimization of import and export of STEP & IFC formats. An alternative to the EDMsixInsideâ„¢ ESL license for ISV customers that needs to provide SaaS. The EDMconversionServerâ„¢ may be installed locally at end-user site or centrally at customer site.


Why EDMconversionServerâ„¢?

The EDMconversionServerâ„¢ is based on the EDMsixâ„¢ platform with its superior data handling capacity. With its EDMsixServerâ„¢ architecture, it provides great parallellity and load ballancing between the clients. The centralized system solution gives more cost efficient deployment, maintenance and support. An other great advantage is the improved data governance. There is no need to send data by e-mail or memory sticks. Migration for EDMsdkâ„¢ toolkit users is also simple due to the EDMsixServerâ„¢ plug-in architecture.


What can EDMconversionServerâ„¢ do?

The EDMconversionServerâ„¢ provides functionality for centralized validation and conversion of models. With EDMconversionServerâ„¢, you can;

  • Convert native models to IFC (any version) using EDMinterfaceâ„¢ or EDMmapSchemaâ„¢.
  • Convert IFC (any version) to AC models to using EDMinterfaceâ„¢ or EDMmapSchemaâ„¢.
  • Validate IFC models according to the IFC schema contraints.
  • Validate IFC models according to user defined rules in EDMruleSchemaâ„¢.

EDMconversionServerâ„¢ has full support for Express-X


What can EDMconversionServerâ„¢ not do?

Functionality is limited to validation and conversion services only. You cannot populate the EDMdatabaseâ„¢ with the purpose of sharing any kind of data between multiple end-users.


How do we get EDMconversionServerâ„¢?

You must sign Jotne's Embedded Software License Agreement for SaaS providers.


How do we pay for EDMconversionServerâ„¢?

The EDMconversionServer™ is not a perpetual license. The license must be renewed at an annual cost of EURO 250 000,-. The license then covers unlimited use and world wide territory.


Can the licensed features of EDMconversionServerâ„¢ be extended?

The annual cost covers the basic validation and conversion features only. If you need to extend the use beyond this, it may be possible, but the annual cost will be affected. Please contact us if you have questions about extended use of  EDMconversionServer™.
